Our second book Savannah and her Thirteen Moons ha Our second book Savannah and her Thirteen Moons has been beautifully crafted by London based Irish poet and children's novelist Shaun Traynor.

These thirteen exquisite poems celebrate the significance each month's moon has for humanity, together with the poet's own sensibility. They are dedicated to his granddaughter Savannah - as well as the Earth itself.

Do you like to mull on how a piece of writing is produced? Whether it’s Shakespeare’s easy outpourings or the sedimentary layers laid down by Proust some of us like to look at how the text evolved. Check our latest blog post (link in bio), where Richard Bradbury considers the evolution of a text and the impact of technology over the last hundred years.

The past is everything that has happened. History is the choices someone has made about what was important. Tradition is the blanket thrown over the other histories, the other choices🖋️

No 1 in a series of Richard's Favourite Bookshops: No 1 in a series of Richard's Favourite Bookshops: City Lights in San Francisco
We asked him, why?
“I first came across City lights bookstore in 1976 when studying American Literature at university. It was the venue for the first public performance of Allen Ginsberg’s great poem “Howl” and for years after was at the centre of the ‘new American poetry’. It appeared again and again in my teaching but it wasn’t until 1993 that I finally got to visit. But only fleetingly, between flights, and in a breathless rush. So, when in 2019 I finally got to visit, wander the shelves and, yes, buy a book it was great to have the moment recorded in this photograph. And I got the T shirt for Xmas later that year!! It is a marker of how well-loved as a symbol of some of the best in US culture that the store is, that when a crowdfunder was launched to keep it open during the Covid crisis it raised more than twice the suggested amount”
